HE Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo

Ambassador of Indonesia

H.E. Prof. Dr. Ir. Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo is a distinguished Indonesian scientist and policymaker in the fields of natural resources, maritime affairs, and technology development.

He was born in Bandung on March 27, 1955, and completed his Bachelor of Geological Engineering at the Bandung Institute of Technology (1978), obtained a Master of Science in Remote Sensing for Natural Resources from the University of Michigan (1981), and earned his Ph.D. in Geologic Remote Sensing from the University of Iowa (1987).

Throughout his career, he has been entrusted with senior responsibilities in the Government of Indonesia, international organizations, and advisory roles. He served as Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs (2014–2015), Secretary at the Coordinating Ministry for People’s Welfare (2008–2012), and Head of the Marine and Fisheries Research Agency (2001–2008). On the international stage, he held the position of Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Resources Use and Conservation Division at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome (2012–2014), and subsequently served as Special Envoy of the Minister of Transportation to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) (2015–2016).

In addition to his government service, H.E. Prof. Soesilo has also contributed significantly in professional and advisory capacities, including as Chairman of the Indonesian Forest Concessionaires Association (APHI), Committee Reviewer for the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), and Honorary Adviser to the Minister of Tourism. He is the author of more than 90 scientific works in geology, remote sensing, fisheries, and marine science, published internationally. In recognition of his service and contributions, he has been decorated with national honors, including the Bintang Mahaputera Pratama (2009) and the Bintang Jasa Utama (1999) from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.
