His Excellency Talal Alrahbi is the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United States of America. He was appointed by Royal Decree by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq – the Sultan of Oman – on March 17, 2025. He is also a non-resident Ambassador to Canada, Mexico and Cuba.
Alrahbi has decades of experience in public and private sector leadership roles. He has significantly contributed to Oman’s national development and planning efforts, highlighted by his appointment by Royal Decree by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 2013 as Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Planning, as well as an appointment by Royal Decree by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in 2020 as Vice President of the Implementation Monitoring Unit for Oman Vision 2040.
Notable accomplishments include heading Oman’s national economic diversification program (Tanfeedh) in 2016, creating over $38 billion in total investment over four years. His Excellency also served as chairman of the Oman Technology Fund (2016-2020) and chairman of Al Irfan City Development Company (2018-2020). Alrahbi led the development of Oman Vision 2040 as chairman of the Executive Committee and Head of the project (2017-2020). He also led development of Oman National Development Plans of 2015-2020 and 2020-2025. In addition, he served as a member of several government authorities’ boards of directors, including First Deputy Chairman of UNESCO Institute of Statistics (2010-2013).
Awards
Alrahbi is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Civil Order of Oman, conferred by H.M. Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 2015, as well as the Order of the Star of Italy, awarded by the President of Italy in 2022.
In Brazil, in 2025, Alrahbi received the National Order of the Southern Cross, the highest honor awarded by the President of Brazil to foreign citizens. In 2024, Alrahbi was named “Personality of the Year” in Brazil, when he received the President Juscelino Kubitschek Honorary Medal, the highest accolade awarded by the Brazilian Academy for Influential Personalities. Also in 2024, he received the “Best Ambassador Award” by the Brazilian Association of Journalists and Communicators.
In the USA, Alrahbi received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Oregon in 2017.
